WTF
This week we remember the millions who have sacrificed for us in the US Army. It was founded 250 years ago when the Revolutionary War began to win Independence from a King.
For some reason, legacy media is promoting the false information that the purpose of this tribute to the Army, which was planned over 2 years ago, before this administration was elected, is a political event intended to pay King-like tribute to the current US President, Donald Trump.
This misinformation is being used to provoke “No King’s Day” protests around the country, with no consideration for the consequence of disrespecting the very people whom we should be thanking by sacrificing their lives so we don’t have a King.
And the worst part is, the military is too honorable to complain. That’s why I feel the need to say something on their behalf.
If the individuals behind this movement and the press were truly motivated to protect our independence, they would be focusing on what matters. Paying tribute to those who are willing to sacrifice everything to protect this Union, when most of us do not. Instead, they are focusing on Trump which draws more, not less, attention to his role in the ceremonies.
We should all be asking ourselves, why is legacy media doing this? Why are they spinning this event away from its purpose?
I’ve written a lot here about the erosion of legacy media, financially, since the government allowed internet providers to profit from its content. When financially vulnerable, it can no longer fulfill the role as the “4th estate” to balance the power of the government and other cultural leaders. They can only exploit that myth to make money. And they do.
When I was working in marketing for Fortune 50 companies at an ad agency, I was criticized for manipulating. The truth is we had to clear everything through the FTC, air it and hope someone saw it. As the ratings declined, the odds were only a small fraction of the shrinking audience was someone we hadn’t reached before. Media companies struggled to come up with ways to be paid more, like in-program placement. Today they have the tools to surreptitiously send and push messages across every device, 24/7.
A free, representative government needs decent human beings running for office. We should be asking ourselves, if you knew it was so easy for the legacy media to be played, would you run for office?
We should ask ourselves who would benefit by disrupting this fabric that holds this country together and how much harder it is for those who are willing to sacrifice, while we do not.
