A critical part of the "We" Renaissance is remembering what a community really is.
Today's political parties are a good example of what community is NOT. Community is NOT when everyone agrees on everything. Community is NOT when a few contributors sustain the organization and everyone else is a "user." Because that is when a few create what is in their best interest and everyone else is expected to "consume" it.
Community is when consumers are respected as the ultimate arbiter of what will be "consumed." Community is when everyone contributes to sustaining the organization. Community is when all contribute, in their own way, because they find mutual benefit in participating. Community is when individual members are proud to belong.
